everybody (businessmen & companies) seems to think that Al is the most invaluable thing today.
AI is like the ultimate competitive advantage in a company.
beyond Al
I believe it is important for us — the business people — to contemplate & to think:
“what could actually be more valuable than Al?”
what could be worth more beyond Al?
what competitive advantage should you pursue to ensure your strategic position?
because this could be a billion dollar strategic question.
the list
here are several things that potentially are more valuable than AI:
- Distribution / Market Access / Supply Chain Control
- Brand Equity, Brand Trust, Loyalty + Time, and Customer Relationships
think of LVMH, Christian Dior - Propertiary Data / Data Exclusivity / Closed System Feedback Loops
- Regulatory Influence / Monopoly
- Human Capital, Talent & Leadership
- Network Effects. think Amazon / Visa.
related: Platform Position / Ecosystem Control (App Store, AWS) - Cash Flows, Capital / Money
- Operational Excellence. eg streamlined processes, infrastructure & logistics.
- Cultural or Social Influence (Personal Brand?)
- Intellectual Property, trade secrets
- Pricing Power
- Political capital (politicians / government)
- Real world control, scarce resources
- Movements & Revolutions. Al can’t replicate the resonance of the people.
- Market timings / momentum
conclusion
apparently there are many things that actually are still more valuable than Al.
it is good that many people are pursuing Al today;
but if you have the power over those 15 (or more?) things – you might own something that is even more valuable than Al.
and of course the more the better.
